Tatyana Gilson

Violin

Tatyana is an enthusiastic and versatile violinist currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music (Honours) in Violin Performance at the Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory. With a strong foundation in classical violin, piano, and theory, she has achieved First Class Honors with Distinction for her RCM Level 10 exams in all three disciplines. Tatyana has demonstrated her skill and dedication by competing successfully at local, provincial, and national levels, including the Canadian Music Competition and the Canada West Performing Arts Festival. She has also participated in prestigious programs such as the National Youth Orchestra of Canada and has been recognized with numerous scholarships, including the Alberta Music Education Foundation Student Recognition Award.

Tatyana is passionate about sharing music with her community, both through performing and teaching. She believes that studying music benefits overall development and strives to help her students find joy in music-making while building solid technique and practice habits. Her teaching style is flexible and tailored to each student's unique needs, goals, and learning style, ensuring that they reach their fullest potential. Her goal is for her students to gain the ability to express themselves freely through music and find fulfillment in their personal musical accomplishments.

In addition to her classical training, Tatyana has experience in fiddle, pop, and musical theatre, and enjoys exploring new genres. Outside of music, she loves baking, reading, and crocheting, often bringing creativity and warmth to everything she does. Whether playing at a festival or teaching her students, Tatyana is dedicated to fostering a love of music in all its forms.
