Daniella Theresia
Vocal, Piano
Ms. Daniella has been involved with music from the age of three when she started violin lessons; over the next 13 years, her musical lessons included piano, flute, voice, and viola. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin, U.S.A. in 2009, with a solid foundation in theory, sight singing, ear training, keyboard skills, and music history. During her time at Lawrence, she sang in Cantala a treble choir, where she performed a diverse range of choral repertoire, and in 2006, they were the one of five choirs to sing at the North Central-American Choral Directors Association convention in Omaha, Nebraska.
Since receiving her degree, she has studied and performed in operatic programs and vocal concerts in North America, Europe, and Israel, and taken master classes with Professor Tamar Rachum-Roth (2013-2016). She moved to Canada in 2017 and has been an active soloist and professional ensemble member throughout the GTA, performing with the Toronto Masque Theatre, Toronto City Opera, the Toronto Oratory Choir at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, the Etobicoke Centennial Choir, Beth Sholom Synagogue in Toronto, and the Beth Tikvah Singers. She is currently the Alto lead at St John's United Church and the co-founder and contributing performer for Opera Sustenida, a diverse, women-owned independent opera company that seeks to bring opera to a wider audience through an innovative use of virtual platforms.
She began private instruction in piano and voice with the goal of helping students explore their relationship with their instrument in a healthy and nurturing manner, letting their musical passions fuel their desire to practice and perform. Her practical approach to music learning gives her students useful tools to learn repertoire more quickly and efficiently. She is a strong advocate for creating intelligent body awareness while performing and incorporating methods like the Alexander Technique, and the Grinberg Method.
She looks forward to empowering musicians of all ages to grow into their best possible musical selves.
