Antonina Ermolenko
Vocal
Antonina received her Bachelor's Degree in Vocal Performance from the Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, Canada, and her Master's Degree from Hunter College, CUNY, in New York.
She is a Ukrainian-Canadian dramatic soprano, gaining international acclaim for her "diva's vocal technique and dramatic flair" (Promin), along with her sense of "lyricism and emotional depth" (New Pathway). She is a disciple of Martina Arroyo, and her musical approach hearkens back to the Golden Age of opera while infusing her own unique, character-driven approach to the art form.
Antonina's 2023/24 operatic season includes roles such as Leonora in Verdi's Il Trovatore, Emilia Marty in Janáček's Věc Makropulos, and Giorgetta in Puccini's Il Tabarro. She is excited to be a part of the Canadian Festival of Czech Opera and the Sugeen Opera Festival. She is also looking forward to touring a program of newly discovered songs by Reinhold Glière and other exceptional Ukrainian composers.
Antonina has had extensive training in classical ballet and character dance and was a member of the Desna Ukrainian Dance Company of Toronto (2000 - 2007). She also studied dramatic arts at the Equity Showcase Theatre (Toronto), completing their Player's Academy.
